Kobe Bryant: American Idol

This doesn’t have much to do with anything other than that tonight’s downtown Los Angeles playoff match-up and the big TV singing event happened across the street from each other.

And it has to do with my using the headline last year, for my sports & fitness blogging gig. Supposedly the label drew traffic like nobody’s business. And I’d like to attract advertisers in addition to Barry’s Tickets.

The television program American Idol isn’t something I’ve seen, although I did go to a show-and-a-quarter, up in Portland. The musical director told me that the tour was like Groundhog Day. Clay was nice.

But I watched the fuck out of that Lakers’ game. Man, was that close. Trevor Arriza saved the day. And I thought the way everyone contributed was pretty cool. No matter what anyone says, the Lakers’ rotation is deep and energizing — easily the NBA’s best. Kobe’s getting old; he needs the rest.

What, you’re not into Idol? I’m shocked!
I expected the Nuggets would give L.A. fits. Ariza deserves credit, but that was a pretty lazy inbounds pass.
Still think this series is gonna go at least six.

yeah. george karl fucked up, having a short guard inbounding.

  3. Bulldog Lee Says:

Karl had to know the Lakers were going to put their tallest available defender on the inbounder.

    Zackly.

Karl told me once, back in the 90s, that he’d never learn the names of the last three or four players on his roster. That blew my mind. Phil would never do that.

This guy is pretty good coach, but he’s missing that thing that achieves greatness.

I’ll give him Seattle though. He was on the verge of greatness then.

Not knowing your bottom 3-4 guys? That’s kinda fucked up. You never know when you’re going to need them, especially this time of year.
That could be what makes Phil so good. Yeah, it’s Kobe’s team, but it seems as if everybody somehow gets involved for the Lakers and stays fairly happy.
Speaking of the bottom of the Lakers roster, has there even been an Adam Morrison sighting in the postseason? Maybe I’ve missed it.
