I can’t get my shit together today. (Again.)
Took a sleeping pill at around 2 a.m. and am still a big foggy. Therefore, I’ll provide tidbits of insight in Herb Caen form:
Let me start with a measured discussion of the Tyler Perry oeuvre, courtesy of my colleague Chris Chambers. For all you white people out there, the metaphoric block is hot with debate over how Perry will handle Ntozake Shange’s classic play. And this is the part where I admit that I have never seen the play or read it in its entirety…
If you opened the last link, you know it’s not entirely helpful. It does however feature Nicole Ari Parker, whom I’ve met a few times. She was a huge fan of young Forrest and as beautiful in person as on screen. My favorite role of hers remains Evie from The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love…
Conveniently, that film has an awesome nude scene. It happens that I’m writing about nudity and sports for one of the rare media outlets that pay me to write. Race will also be a factor, according to my undernourished outline. I’m something of a go-to guy on that troika, a veritable Visanthe Shincoe. Which is to say, big Willie.
Deadline is nipping at my butt cheeks. It may be time to review that lesbian flick again…

Dude, that is seriously some Old School SF, mentioning Herb Caen!
But you should read “For Colored Girls….” if only to get a big hit of mid-’70s radical Black Arts madness. I was peer pressure’d into reading it in high school, and it confused the hell out of me.
Read it again in college, at which time its gratuitous New Age claptrap and feminist/anti-male propaganda just pissed me off. Still, any black Artist what Gets Ovah by pushing that kinda thing deserves her plate of ribs, right? But it is telling that Shange hasn’t produced anything else of note in all the years since……
Finally: who is Visanthe Shincoe? I’m scared to hit that link you included cause my computer no likee porn sites……

Minnesota Vikings tight end Visanthe Shincoe caught a touchdown pass from Brett Favre last night He’s no porn star, but his big black dick got live TV airtime. It had to be a fine how-do-ya-do? to the good folks of Minneapolis and surrounding communities.
“Deserves her plate of ribs” is a new one on me. A very good one.
I always thought of the play — when I actually thought about it — as more poetry than narrative. Maybe Perry will do well with it. He’s bound to get great actors and a lot of notes from the studio.
