‘Use Somebody’

I am ridiculously into this song, from a band I heard rock the Troubadour in, like 2003. My man Heavy D had a ticket.

That tune, and a semi-obscure Bee Gees song rule my brain. Problem: Lil Wayne is the assignment.

Don’t know that I’d call “Nights on Broadway” obscure. It sure as hell ain’t “Jive Talkin’” though!

You may have something. I used my girl as a barometer, ‘cuz she usually knows old R&B. This song might not fit though.

    Good call, Lee Roy.

In my weaker moments, I must confess that I think the BeeGees are a bit underrated, or at least shouldn’t be as reviled as they are by music snobs. Disco got a really bad rap, some of which was perhaps deserved, and even racially motivated, but the Gibbs weren’t really all that “disco”. Maybe it’s just that the blacker they tried to sound, the whiter they seemed. Either way, they made pretty damned good pop music, and are probably more than a guilty pleasure of people with “standards”.

Don’t get too deep for disco.

The Bee Gees were an all-time great pop group. Great songs, terrific singing. No guilt at all, for an honest man.

Too deep for disco? That’s a great name for a band!
